Remedial Massage Melbourne CBD

When muscles become knotted, tensed or damaged, massage therapy provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions often addressed with massage therapy include muscle tightness and pain, arthritis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, whiplash, neck and back pain, scoliosis, headaches and sports injuries.

Types of Massages

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage uses several specialised techniques to locate and repair damage to muscles, tendons, and joints. Massage therapy supports and speeds up the body’s repair mechanisms. The benefits of remedial massage include the stimulation to the blood supply allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed; the calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort; and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility. An improvement to the health of the cells, the repairing of tissues, and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced through therapeutic relaxation.

Sports Massage

Sports massage assists in the prevention and treatment of sports injuries and recovery from activity. Sports massage is designed to work on the specific muscle groups used in your particular sport and can assist in improving blood flow, increasing flexibility and range of motion, and relieving muscle pain from intensive or repeated activity. Sports massage can also be used after an event to flush out the muscles and reduce recovery time.

Cupping/Dry Needling

Dry needling involves the use of a sterile, single-use filament needle (also known as acupuncture needle), which is used to relieve muscle tension, reduce pain and stimulate circulation with minimal pain. Cupping is an alternative treatment method in which a local suction is created on the skin. The suction and pressure provided by cupping helps to relax/release muscles, boost blood flow and calms the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Our therapists use Cupping to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, migraines, and rheumatism.

Pregnancy Massage

Our qualified masseuses utilise different techniques to ease the pain, knots, and tension on your body. Pregnancy massage is best up to 29 weeks but we urge you to get the ‘OK’ from your GP beforehand.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage utilises a firm, slow stroke technique to reach down into the deeper layers of muscle and tissue. The pressure used in a deep tissue massage is much firmer than a relaxation massage and can help to work out knots and tension in the muscle, whilst stimulating circulation and assisting with flushing out toxins.
